Iron Artist: 3 Years in a Row!

So, AggieCon is this weekend, and as you all know that means one thing: the Iron Artist competition!

Now, the theme of the competition this year was “Zombies: They Fight Crime!” …I started on a half-baked attempt at a zombie taking a “bite out of crime” by ripping out some random hooligan’s jugular, but that was going nowhere fast. When I was informed we had a full hour left in the competition, I decided to cut my losses and just flipped my piece of posterboard over and started again. This time, someone in the audience was shouting about zombie armadillos, so I ran with it, and created this:

Zombie armadillos devouring (and humping the ribcage of) a jaywalker. See kids? Crime doesn’t pay! I thought it came out alright, and was a lot of fun to make despite the weird brushes and tempera paint we used. Now, I ended up winning the contest based on audience applause…. but I’m a big enough man to admit that I think Rocky Kelley really deserved the prize. His piece was a great painting, about the crimes against nature we’ve been committing. Here, check this thing out!

Go check out his stuff, definitely worth looking!
