Community Commission No. 2 is GO!

It’s time for Community Commission No. 2 — I hope you have your dictionary ready! (The people who participated in No. 1 really raised the bar on freaky input!) For all the new people: I’m looking to raise at least $400 by October 22nd to create some gorgeous, full-color artwork. If I succeed, everyone who donated will get a ton of cool stuff! And if I raise $700 by October 22nd, everyone who donated will get double the cool stuff. Both goals are explained on the community commission page, so if you want double awesome stuff for the same donation amount, tell your friends!

Come Play With Us!

All the information you need is at the Community Commission No. 2 Donations Page. Go take a look! We’ll be updating it regularly as we receive donations, so feel free to obsessively hit “reload”! (O_~)

Fantastic Prize List

Donate $10+ to get a postcard-sized Commission Print and some Marty money.

Donate $25+ to get a signed 10 x 13 Commission Print, a postcard-sized Commission Print, and some Marty money! $25+ donations in the first 48 hours get drawing input (one adj. and one noun)!

Donate $45+ to get primo input into the drawing, a 12 x 16 Commission Print (signed and doodled), and credit/linkage on my site! One adjective and one noun. Includes heckling rights. (O_~) You’ll also get a postcard-sized Commission Print, a Free Additional Print of your choice (shipped at the same time), and some Marty money! (whew!)

Donate $60+ to get all the $45 prizes AND A HUG. That’s a $15 hug, only applicable if you live in (or visit) Austin. And it’s a GOOD HUG.

Examples of one adjective and one noun: Flaming goldfish. Gorgeous mermaid. Pulsating horror.

You Make All the Difference

Last community commission was spectacular, and we’re determined to make it even better this time. I am so grateful to all of you who donated for No. 1 and cheered me on, so I’m even more excited about doing it again. All of you — who read my blog, send me email, everyone who supports me — make an incredible difference in my ability to continue doing what I’m doing. I really appreciate you and I can’t wait to see your reaction to what No. 2 has in store. So whether you donate for this one or not, thank you. I couldn’t do this without you.

The clock has officially started on that first 48 hours, so if you’re going to throw $25 in the pot now is the time to do it before the price of input goes up! Please remember to include your name, mailing address, email address, and adjective/noun when you make your donation — and thank you for playing!

    Hey Marty,

I sent this off as an email to you but I know how email addresses can shuttle off things to the junker before you even have a chance to check out whether it’s legit or not. I’m reposting my email here…

A friend of mine recommended you when I put up on Livejournal a plea for a flash animator. I am the character of Cyrus on the website http://www.spill.com. While it’s fun and I’m not gonna stop working for them and doing movie reviews, the parent company hasn’t lived up to their promises and I don’t particularly think the potential is being anywhere near lived up to.

So then there’s what happens next.

While the animator for Spill is a good friend of mine, he’s a guy who HAS to be in charge. I’m looking for more of a think tank collaborative sort of process involved with reviewing films but with a story line based structure interrupted periodically with brief movie review segments, ala Beavis in Butthead in structure sort of (but certainly not in stupidity.) I have a stable crew of reviewers who have the chemistry, intelligence and experience and we’re looking to build a project with an animator who wants to be an equal partner. We are already completely hooked into the system for seeing everything for free here in town, getting all the DVD releases, graphic novels, etc, etc. We plan on building a website around the animations with blogs and weekly audio podcasts (got all that equipment and system ready to roll) with a smaller level of web 2.0 involvement than Spill does but more merchandise for sale (hopefully.)

We’re really just in the brainstorming stages, we’ve got people already excited, the main thing we were missing was an animation partner. I like what I see on your website and I’d love to get a chance to get together and jaw about it. Please get in touch if this sounds at all interesting to you.
